A Bit About Carrie

Carrie serves as the Executive Director for Wild Oaks and is the Practice Owner for Richmond Creative Counseling, LLC. She earned her Master of Science in Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Master of Business Administration from The College of William & Mary. She has spent the past 15+ years primarily in executive leadership and consultative roles in Virginia's behavioral healthcare industry. As an employer for one of Richmond's largest multi-specialty group mental health practices, Carrie is dedicated to supporting her colleagues and employees in pursuing their professional passions. This, coupled with the crushing need for accessible, affirming, and inclusive eating disorder treatment options in Richmond, led to the birth of Wild Oaks.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of clinical experience in the mental health industry, Carrie has worked with numerous individuals and families directly impacted by eating disorders. She had the wonderful experience of receiving intensive and targeted clinical supervision from seasoned eating disorder specialists in the early part of her career. During this time, Carrie developed a strong belief in the power of systemic approaches to eating disorder treatment, healing, and recovery. In her outpatient practice, Carrie enjoys working with couples, parents, and family members of individuals who experience eating disorders or disordered eating. Additionally, Carrie is a board-approved licensure supervisor in Virginia for Residents in Counseling and enjoys providing licensure supervision to aspiring counselors. She has humbly and proudly supervised (and learned from) some of the area's most talented eating disorder therapists.

Carrie believes that there is no wrong way to have a body, no single "right way" to treat anyone's pain successfully and that every individual possesses their own inner wisdom that should be respected and honored by the professionals who serve them. Guided by these core beliefs, Carrie has carefully established an intentional, thoughtful, and highly collaborative team of compassionate professionals who comprise the Wild Oaks team. Her approach to executive leadership with Wild Oaks is rooted in design thinking concepts in which empathy informs a non-linear approach to understanding and tackling problems as they arise.
